1. Core Principle: Privacy by Design

GuardAI is built on the principle of Zero-Knowledge. We believe that your data belongs to you, and our goal is to help you protect it from being inadvertently shared with Large Language Models (LLMs).

2. Information Collection and Use

We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal data.

• No Data Collection: GuardAI does not collect your name, email address, IP address, or any other personally identifiable information (PII).
• No Content Storage: We do not record or store your prompts, chat history, or any text you input into AI platforms (such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini).
• No External Communication: The extension does not send any of your input data to our servers or any third-party servers.

3. How Data is Processed (Local Processing)

All data processing, including sensitive information scanning and masking, happens entirely on your local device within your browser's memory.

• Your text never leaves your computer during the scanning and masking process.
• The processing is ephemeral and is cleared as soon as the browser tab is closed or the session ends.

4. Permissions Disclosure

GuardAI requests only the minimum permissions necessary to function:

• storage: To save your personal settings (e.g., which types of sensitive data you want to detect).
• activeTab / scripting: To detect input fields on supported AI websites and provide the masking interface.

5. Third-Party Services

GuardAI interacts with the websites you visit (like https://www.google.com/search?q=chatgpt.com) to provide its service. However, it does not share any additional data with these platforms beyond what you choose to send after the masking process. We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of the AI services you use.
